Identify the work, equipment and substances involved, and assess hazards. Review the assessment when processes, equipment, materials or working methods change.

Safety comes first in research and daily work
Safe substances and equipment
Check SDS, labels, ventilation, protective equipment and storage and handling methods against the work involved. Inspect equipment, electrical and fire safety, and record improvements.
Worker participation and training
Workers must be able to report hazards and suggest improvements. Plan training and drills appropriate to their tasks and risk levels, and record actual completion.
Emergency response and stopping unsafe work
Workers must be able to stop work and move to safety in imminent danger. Maintain reporting, evacuation and emergency response procedures for accidents and leaks, and address their causes.
Extending safety standards to outsourced work
Confirm responsibilities and work information for outsourced manufacturing, testing and on-site collaboration. Share risk information with suppliers, review improvements and maintain accident and training records based on verified evidence.
